Netflix and DreamWorks Animation took advantage of WonderCon in Anaheim last weekend to unveil a short teaser for Voltron: Legendary Defender, a reboot of the 80s animated series.
Five humans find each other or are chosen by who knows what and head for a planet light-years away from Earth aboard a lion.
When they arrive on a planet, they wake up a princess and her valet from a 10,000-year sleep. The beginning is quickly dispatched in a one-hour episode.
The rest is a simple story, a big bad who wants to conquer the universe, and Voltron, the mecha composed of the five lions, will try to stop him.
Voltron: Defender of the Universe, the original series, was a 124-episode American animated television series produced by Toei Animation and World Events Productions that aired between September 10, 1984, and November 18, 1985, in syndication.
Like Macross, the series combines in a single story two Japanese series independent of each other: GoLion (52 episodes) and Dairugger XV (52 episodes).
However, the last 20 episodes of Voltron featuring Golion were specially made by Toei for WEF and the Voltron series.
