Every year in the United States, the 2nd of February is Groundhog Day.
The groundhog is a small, stocky, chubby animal with a flattened head and two little ears. The neck is almost nonexistent. His muzzle is surrounded by a pale patch, and his teeth are white. His eyes are black; his sight and hearing are excellent. Its front legs with four sturdy claws are well suited to burrowing while its hind legs have five ordinary claws. Its coat, usually greyish brown, sometimes has a yellowish or reddish hue, the belly generally being a little paler. His very flexible spine allows him to sneak between the rocks and his body can flatten out like that of the best contortionist.
